Welcome to the League of Women Voters of Wisconsin Rapids Area home on the web.

Since 1970 the League's purpose has been to promote informed and active participation of citizens in government. While the League studies and then takes action on a wide variety of governmental issues, it is firmly nonpartisan; it supports neither candidates or political parties.

Membership is open to all men and women and visitors are welcome and encouraged to attend our events and discussions. Come, observe and participate. On this site you'll find useful information every citizen should be aware of along with pertinent information about us and what we are doing as well as information on how to contact us and join us.


2023 LWVWRA Scholarship Awarded

2023 League of Women Voters of the Wisconsin Rapids Area Scholarship winner Emma receiving her award. The Wisconsin Rapids Area League of Women Voters Scholarship is a scholarship in the amount of $500 that is awarded every other year to an area graduating senior who plans to enter a four-year education program with a major in a social studies related area. The student must demonstrate academic achievement, as well as participation in extracurricular and volunteer activities. The application must be accompanied by two letters of recommendation and a one-page essay answering the questions "What are your future plans, and why do you feel you are a good candidate for this scholarship?". Emma plans to attend Winona State University and major in psychology, with the goal of becoming a forensic psychologist.

Election Day Voting

  • Election Day is February 21.
  • Make sure you bring a valid form of photo ID.
  • Don't forget to double-check your polling place location.
  • Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. CT. If you are in line before the polls close, stay in line!

Primary Candidate Interviews

Wisconsin Rapids Community Media will air interviews of candidates who are running for public office prior to the primary election on February 21.

View candidates for the Wisconsin Rapids School Board at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, and 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3.

View candidates for the Port Edwards Town Board at 7 p.m. Wednesday, and 7 p.m. Thursday.
