Welcome to the League of Women Voters of Wisconsin Rapids Area home on the web.

Since 1970 the League's purpose has been to promote informed and active participation of citizens in government. While the League studies and then takes action on a wide variety of governmental issues, it is firmly nonpartisan; it supports neither candidates or political parties.

Membership is open to all men and women and visitors are welcome and encouraged to attend our events and discussions. Come, observe and participate. On this site you'll find useful information every citizen should be aware of along with pertinent information about us and what we are doing as well as information on how to contact us and join us.

People Powered Day of Action - April 29th

LWVUS and LWVWI has declared April 29th as the “People Powered Day of Action”. Leagues around the state and nation are being asked to plan advocacy activities designed to raise public awareness on the issue of redistricting.

Candidate Interviews Airing on WCRM

WRCM is now airing the LWVWRA and WRCM sponsored candidate interviews for:(not necessarily in this order):

  • City of Wisconsin Rapids
  • Nekoosa School Board
  • Town of Saratoga

The air dates are

  • Mar. 23 starting at 5:30 pm
  • Mar. 27 starting at . 5:00 pm
  • April 1 starting at 10:00 am

The Voter Helpline is Back!

If you have any questions about the election or need someone to witness your signature on a mail-in ballot call or text the Voter Helpline at 608-285-2141.


WRPS Referendum Informational Session

The Wisconsin Rapids School District will hold an informational session on the referendum on March 16 at 6:00 PM at the Lincoln Performing Arts Center. It can be lived streamed off of the WRPS District website by scrolling to the bottom of the page and clicking on the arrow in the box( You Tube) at the bottom right of the screen. You can see past sessions and read about the referendum by clicking on the pencil at the top of the same screen.

In person at the LPAC will be socially distanced with masks required.

COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update

Because of the state of emergency recently declared by Gov. Evers and our state League's position on not holding group events, we am asking that any group events that were scheduled for presentation will need to be cancelled.

This includes the panel discussion on redistricting slated for March 19 at the library, and the voter forums on March 25-26. Watch this space for any changes, as they seem to occur daily.

LWVWRA hosts non-partisan redistricting panel discussion on March 19 which will cover the April referendum. The call for non-partisan redistricting is growing in several counties around the state.
