Mary Dahm, Past President of League of Women Voters Wisconsin Rapids Area, greets members and guests arriving later in the evening. |
Three Charter Members, Beatrice Smith (Past President), Gloria Bocaner (Past President), and Margherita Voelker (Past Treasurer), attended the celebration. |
The speaker for the evening was Gloria Bocaner who is a charter member of the League of Women Voters of the Wisconsin Area and was elected it's first president. |
Gloria Bocaner, who was present at the very inception of our local League, was elected it's first president, and who has remained invloved with the local League for it's entire life, was in an excellent position to present the history of the formation of our League. And that's exactly what she did admirably well at the celebration. |

Members of the League of Women Voters of the Wisconsin Rapids Area. Being a League member must be rather pleasant and enjoyable. Can you ever remember seeing that many happy looking, smiling people all gathered together in one spot? |
As should be true at all celebrations, there was plenty of time for the attendees to "touch base" with each other and do a bit of socializing. |
Ah, yes! There were plenty of treats and cake to be enjoyed. |
This photo of Past Treasurer Margherita Voelker was included at the insistence of the Webmaster because it seems to typify the sparkle, joy, warmth, enthusiasm, caring and good will that brings our local League to life and drives it's good deeds. |
Was the Celebration the successful and joyous event it was hoped to be? Apparently it was, based on the jolly and happy expression of these three past presidents (Beatrice Smith, Marion Ruelle, Gloria Bocaner) about to leave for home. |
